Tibetan bowls

... pure vibration of life!

The history of Tibetan bowls

It is believed that Tibetan bowls are native to India. They came to Tibet with Buddhism probably around the 8th century. Some sources state that the true beginning of their history dates back to the time of Buddha. In 1950 Tibet was invaded by China. Because the Chinese began to destroy the monasteries, many monks fled the country. Living in poverty in exile, they began to sell everything they had with them, including Tibetan bowls. This is the way Tibetan bowls came to the western world. There are stories that the Tibetan lamas used them secretly and exclusively for themselves. According to some sources, this is the reason why we know so little about them.

How are Tibetan bowls produced?

Traditionally Tibetan bowls are made of 7 metal alloys that are combined in a system with seven celestial bodies, with seven chakras and finally with seven different tones. The bowls are tuned to specific tones that affect each chakra. The traditional bowl is usually hammered by 3-4 people. During the forging, these people chant to fill their work with the intentions and energy of healing.
