Reiki as an energy massage

Reiki is an intelligent energy

Reiki’s roots go back to the ancient lost cultures existing in today’s areas of Tibet. Reiki was re-discovered by Japanese monk Dr. Mikao Usui in the second half of the 19th century. Reiki supports a healing on the physical, emotional and spiritual level. Energy of Reiki harmonizes a flow of vital energy through channels (called meridians) and energetic centres (called chakras) in human body, removing energy blockages. Reiki’s practitioner absorbs cosmic energy through the crown chakra and gives it back through hands, by applying them to certain areas of the body – so called energy massage. Reiki treatment reduces stress and tension, deepens the state of relaxation, allowing the body to restore balance and harmony, and to activate its natural self-healing mechanisms.

Reiki is an intelligent energy – it always reaches the right level and place where it is most needed. Reiki does not require any faith, but only a permission to act and a desire to recover.

I also use gemstones in my practice, especially crystals, to strengthen the Reiki’s energy in the area of main energetic centres. Providing even a small amount of energy to the crystal causes its multiplication. If you treat Reiki as a therapy, it is a good idea to take a minimum of 10 treatments. Reiki treatment takes about 45-60 minutes, depending on your health condition.

Scientific research

Reiki is one of the types of energy medicine that aims to restore our inner energetic harmony by charging energy, dissolving energy blocks, while relaxing the body and allowing the energy to flow freely in the right direction. Scientific research has proven the effectiveness of Reiki, which is why it is used worldwide as a holistic therapy supporting treatment of many diseases (Reiki is used in private clinics, hospitals and other medical facilities).

Research shows that Reiki has a positive effect on reducing stress, pain and anxiety. It strengthens immune system, reduces muscle tension, and deepens state of relaxation. Reiki also affects the heart, reducing the number of beats per minute, which in turn means a drop of blood pressure. In addition, Reiki helps in case of long-term reduction in psychological stress, psychotherapy and other emotional issues. Energy of Reiki also improves memory and general mental function and is helpful in epilepsy.

Personally, I have noticed some improvements in short-term memory (damaged by a stroke), migraine, menstrual, muscle and intestinal colic pain relief, acceleration the healing process of fractures and injuries, significant reduction in stress and anxiety.

Reiki and Traditional Chinese Medicine

Reiki is largely based on the knowledge of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). According to TCM, illness occurs when there is a blockade in the human energy system and a vital energy Qi is not properly distributed in the body. These blockages are most often caused by stress or untreated illnesses as well as a wrong lifestyle – all these factors lead to muscle tension and to a stiffness of the whole body. Reiki, while relaxing the whole body, removes energy blockages and makes the energy begin to flow properly, nourishing the whole body and thus improving its health.

According to TCM, health also means harmony both in a person (in body, mind and spirit) and in surroundings; the disease is caused by disorder or lack of harmony. In our energetic body, the complementary energies of Yin and Yang flow together. They are the energy of life, called Qi. When there is a blockage, energy can’t flow freely in the right direction – this leads to a loss of balance between the Yin and Yang energies. It is important to restore this balance as soon as possible. You can do this through Reiki.

According to eastern medicine, an energy system consists of energetic centres (chakras, tan tiens) and channels (meridians) through which energy of life flows. Meridians run all over the body, under the surface of the skin – some are main, others collateral, but all of them are important for the harmonious functioning of the body. The most important tan tien is located a few centimetres under the navel, deep in the body.

The chakras look like circular energy structures, connected with two major meridians in the spine (Ren Mai and Du Mai). Chakras are responsible for transforming and distributing specific energy through the body. Energetic centres are connected through meridians, all surrounded by aura. In this system energy of life is circulating, nourishing the whole organism and mind.

The free flow of vital energy is not possible if there are blockages in the energetic body. This leads to an imbalance in the exchange of energy among individual organs or between the body and the environment – this causes physical illnesses and emotional problems. Impediment or lack of the energy flow in one place causes the disturbance in the entire energetic system. Human aura also accumulates various energy dirt, which should be cleaned regularly.

During a full Reiki treatment, the whole human energy system is cleaned, chakras balanced and energy blocks dissolved. This allows for restoring a harmonious flow of energy and also stimulates body’s natural healing process.

Indications

Reiki supports the treatment of all physical, emotional and spiritual diseases. Reiki helps to alleviate various types of pain, supports the treatment of cancer and autoimmune diseases. Reiki is also helpful in dysfunction of particular organs (including digestive organs) and problems with sight and hearing. Reiki accelerates the healing process of fractures, injuries and bruises, healing of wounds and regeneration of skin after burns. Reiki therapy also helps during pregnancy – both the mother and the baby in her womb.

Reiki is often used as a method of relaxation – it eliminates tension, calms, relaxes the muscles and gives rest to the whole body and mind. Therefore, this therapy is especially recommended for people who are stressed and just want to relax. Reiki is also used to support the treatment of anxiety and therapy for people with autism and ADHD.

Reiki can be used preventively – regular treatments support the whole body, relaxing the nervous system and significantly improving the functioning of the immune system.
